Noppon Brothers
It’s been a while since the last visit to Tokyo Tower. And I saw the tower’s character Noppon standing outside the tower greeting, playing & photo taking with children. Noppon is one of twin brothers. That day, younger one was there wearing red overalls. This character is in the motif of Tokyo Tower, but it doesn’t really look like one. It is very popular among the children with it’s unique shape, motif & character.
Pure White Corn
There are many different varieties of corn, but have you ever heard of Pure White Corn? Nanporo is one of Hokkaido’s best areas for growing white corn. Pure White corn can be eaten raw, however, provides a completely different experience. A single bite into the bubble wrap-like texture fills your mouth with the juicy sweetness of a fully ripe head of corn. Nanporo Pure White only comes into season for a short time once a year, so if you want to try this delicious corn be sure to pick some up now!
Marine Day
Today , people in Japan are celebrating Umi-No-Hi, that translates as Marine Day or Ocean Day, a holiday which expresses thanks for the blessings of the sea, as well as hopes for Japan’s economic prosperity. The holiday is celebrated every year on the third Monday in July, and many celebrate by taking a day trip to the beach.
Have you spotted any fun plane?
ANA, All Nippon Airways, may have one of the most unique fleets! From Pokemon themed planes (spotted in Hong Kong & Bangkok) to the Panda Plane, also spotted in Bangkok, their planes are unique when they paint them. The exteriors of the Pokemon aircraft are painted with pictures of various Pokemon and the interiors are decorated with a Pokemon theme. Passengers on the Pokemon Jets receive a complete Pokemania experience. The aircraft and flight crews are decked out in Pokemon themes, including headrests, flight attendant uniforms, food containers, inflight entertainment, and souvenir bags.
Ebi Soba
Ebi Soba is a very different concept. Take ramen, which has been one of the staples in the Japanese diet, but integrate ebi (shrimp) into the soup base. What you get is a very different experience of ramen consumption. The soup based with packed with shrimp flavor, which was quite a pleasant change to the usual tonkotsu, shoyu, gyokai ramen soups that seems to be everywhere. As you can see the soup is fairly dark, very flavorful, and really tasty. But with so many options for ramen and tsukemen in Tokyo that offers the same soup-base, you won’t find many that offers an ebi-based soup. If you are interested in trying a ebi-based ramen, you can either drop by Seibu Ikeburo store or the one in Chitose Airport in Sapporo.
