Squid Ink manju
“Manju” is made from flour dough and filled with cooked ground pork or other ingredients. It is a kind of chinese style steamed bun. The above picture shows “Squid ink manju” which is very rare to find in the usual store. If you’re in Hakodate do remember to taste some of it.
Donburi Yokocho Ichiba, Hakodate
The “Donburi Yokocho Ichiba” is a restaurant arcade located inside the Hakodate Morning Market, featuring some 20 eateries. If you’re looking to sample fresh crab, salmon caviar, sea urchin and other seafood delights, then this is the place to visit. Hakodate is famous for its seafood dish commonly known as “seafood rice bowl”, a bowl of steaming rice topped with raw seafood.
Mt. Tanigawadake, Gunma
At 1,977 meters, Mt. Tanigawadake located in Gunma is the highest mountain in the Tanigawa mountain range. A 10-minute ride on the ropeway will take you up to Tenjindaira at an elevation of 1,321 meters for a splendid panoramic view.
Tori No Ichi
Tori no Ichi (open-air market) is a famous annual event in November on the day of the Tori (Rooster) in Chinese calendar and this event has continued to today since the Edo period. Tori no Ichi is held at Temple of Tori in Asakusa, Tokyo and various shrines of Washi (Eagle) . Many people will go there to pray for a health, good fortune and good business.
Kanemori Red Brick warehouse
Hakodate port is located at the west side of the city center. At the southern end of the port, there are some old warehouses built in red brick and a pier. Kanemori red brick warehouses is located about 1.3 km southwest of JR Hakodate station. They were built in the early 20th century, and trading was very active during that period. The warehouses are now used as restaurants & malls, and are lit up in the evening. One of the most popular spots in Hakodate.
