Ueda Sanada Festival

Ueda Sanada Festival

I went to Ueda Sanada Festival. It is a battle motif which happened here twice in the end of the 16th century. It is very attractive for people who is crazy about history.
2000 Sanada Army beat 8000 Tokugawa Army in Ueda city in the first battle of Ueda in 1585. 32000 Tokugawa Army attacked Ueda castle in the second battle of Ueda in 1600. However they couldn’t beat it so they gave up.
This festival reproduce real Sanada Army and people who wear the civil war era uniform walk in the city.

Tokyo Station – continued

Tokyo Station

Do you know that Tokyo Station and NY Grand Central Terminal become sister stations?
Ceremony of sister station partnership was held at Grand Central in Manhattan on March 19.

Tokyo Station already has a sister station of Amsterdam Station since 2006 because the two have similar architectural styles. However, this is the first time to have sister partnership for NY Grand Central Terminal and beginning of relationship between Japanese and the US railway stations.

If you have a chance to visit both stations, please remember they are sisters and Tokyo Station is a year younger than NY Grand Central station.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is located within the Ocean Expo Commemorative National Government Park in Okinawa, Japan.
The aquarium is four stories with tanks containing deep sea creatures, sharks, coral and tropical fish. They have 33,000 living animals approximately including over 400 sharks and rays. It is also famous for the name of Largest Acrylic Panel.
Total land of the aquarium is about 5 acres and 77 tanks containing 2,700,000 gal of water. Saltwater is pumped into the aquarium from 380 yard offshore 24 hours a day.
Whale sharks and manta rays are living together with many other fish varieties in Kuroshio Sea. I was so surprised when I saw the whale sharks. They are so huge! I’ve never seen big fish, like the whale sharks.
Please check them out if you go to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.
