Totoro in Ghibli Museum
I spy, Totoro! The cuddly creature welcomes you from behind the booth at the main entrance of The Ghibli Museum. It is just a 15 minutes from Shinjuku by train, and then a quick ride on the Mitaka city bus that mimics the yellow Cat-bus as seen on “My Neighbor Totoro animation cartoon,” the museum is fantastic for all ages and a must-see even if you are not yet familiar with Hiyao Miyazaki’s works of art. Experience a short anime feature film, spend some time admiring the history of all the Ghibli Studios movies made, and climb up spiral staircases to discover hidden gems such as Totoro and the Laputa robot.
Za U-don
So far, the Osaka airport had no halal restaurants. In Kansai International Airport, Za U-don a self-service udon noodle restaurant got halal accreditation from the Malaysian Halal Consultation & Training. There are some requests for halal food from people traveling to Islamic countries. Halal means permitted or lawful according to Islamic Law which forbids the consumption of pork and alcoholic drinks among other requirements. Udon is a type of thick wheat flour noodle of Japanese cuisine. It is often served hot as a noodle soup in its simplest form, as kake udon, in a mildly flavoured broth called kakejiru, which is made of dashi, soy sauce and mirin. It is usually topped with thinly chopped scallions. Other common toppings include tempura, often prawn or kakiage (a type of mixed tempura fritter), or aburaage, a type of deep-fried tofu pockets seasoned with sugar, mirin, and soy sauce. A thin slice of kamaboko, a halfmoon-shaped fish cake, is often added. Shichimi can be added to taste.
Yokohama big chuka-man
About 240 Chinese restaurants jostle for customers in Yokohama’s Chinatown, and the district welcomes roughly 20 millin visitors every year. Cantonese cuisine comprises about 40% of the restaurants, with Shanghai, Beijing, and Sichuan fare also figuring prominently. In addition to multi-course meals, various dim-sum treats are also popular. One easy way to enjoy Chinatown is to try one of the big Chuka-man (steamed buns containing pork and other savory fillings) served piping hot at Chinatown storefronts while strolling down the district’s vibrant streets. You can find alot of steam bun vendors on the street. Each vendor has their own taste.
