Tokyo Station

Tokyo Station, with its attractive red brick structure, is a place where eastern and western Japan come together.  People from all over the country and all over the world pass through Tokyo Station daily. Tokyo station is definitely an attraction worth seeing, a place you’ll want to slow down instead of your usual mad rush to your next train.

Hanazono Shrine, Shinjuku

Hanazono Shrine in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is decorated with good luck charms such as the kazari kumade (decorative rake) – a custom passed down since the Edo Period – to wish its visitors good luck and business fortune for the Tori No Ichi event every November. You will find a sea of people lining up in front of stalls by the shrine to purchase a kazari kumade and other festivity-filled goods. It is especially beautiful at night, as the whole shrine is lit up with lanterns.

Nanzen-ji Temple, Kyoto

Nanzen-Ji in Kyoto, also called Zuiryusan,is one of the most well-known Rinzai Zen temples in Japan. Emperor Kameyama loved this beautiful place so much that in 1264 he built his detached palace here. A characteristic of the history of this temple is that its abbot was always chosen as the best Rinzai Zen Master in each period. The foliage viewing in this temple is indeed breathtaking.
