Experience the Kansai Region of Japan, also known as the cultural center and historical heart of Japan

Guests joining this journey will visit the southern-central region of Japan's main island of Honshu, also known as the Kansai Region. The Kansai Region consists of several prefectures, including Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima, and is considered by many to be the cultural center and the historical heart of Japan. All Japan Tours takes you on a journey as you travel along famous landmarks, ancient history, and the unique culture of the Kansai Region.

Start your journey in the heart of Osaka by visiting Osaka Castle and exploring the castle grounds. Guests will then make their way up to the observation deck of Abeno Harukas, which offers wonderful views of the cityscape. Relax during a short cruise down the Tombori River, located in Dotonbori. Once the cruise has ended, explore Dotonbori on foot, taking in the neon lights and fun atmosphere. Depart Osaka and travel to Nara, first visiting Isuien Garden, a spacious garden dating back to the 17th century. At the nearby Todaiji Temple, visit the main hall to see one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha. Surrounding the temple, you will finds hundreds of wild deer roaming the park. Guests will also visit Kasuga Grand Shrine, famous for its lanterns throughout the shrine, which are only lit twice a year during the Lantern Festivals.

Enjoy two full days in Kyoto, where guests will first stop at Nishiki Market, a narrow fresh food market. Visit Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vermillion Torii Gates weaving through the mountainside. Stop by a sake museum, where guests will learn how sake is made and enjoy a tasting at the end of the tour. One of the most celebrated temples in all of Japan, Kiyomizu Temple, will also be visited during your journey. Once at the Gion Geisha District, shop at the small stores lining the roads or watch for geisha or maiko heading to their appointments. On the last full day in Kyoto, explore the ancient city in depth. Sightsee around Nijo Castle and the scenic castle grounds that have been around since 1603. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the Golden Pavillion, known as Kinkakuji, a stunning temple surrounded by a pond. In Arashiyama, visit the Tenryuji Temple and the Zen Garden before the short walk through the quiet bamboo forest.
