Hinomisaki Lighthouse, Izumo
On the westernmost tip of the Shimane Peninsula, the Hinomisaki Lighthouse (43.65 m) is the tallest lighthouse in East Asia.The view from the observatory is unparalleled, and the lighthouse is considered among the top 100 historic lighthouses in the world.
Kochi Castle pack
At the park near Kochi Castle there is a statue of “Kazutoyo Yamanouchi’s wife” Chiyo & his horse. She was known as the “wise wife”. She bought a horse with her considerable abilities to further her husband’s career, which brought him a great success. “Kazutoyo Yamanouchi” was a lower-class samurai who went on to have a brilliant career and become the first lord of Kochi Castle.
Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine
“Izumo” is one of the oldest areas of Japan therefore, the region is known as “Province of the Gods”. Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine is considered as one of the most ancient and important shrines in Japan. The ancient shrine is designed as a national treasure. It is believed that the gods gather at Izumo Shrine in October to discuss the coming year’s marriages, deaths, and births and to determine what sort of “en” people will have in the upcoming year.
Izumi Airport
Izumo Airport is an airport in the Shimane Prefecture, Japan. This airport is also known as “Izumo En-Musubi Airport” meaning Izumo Airport of Romantic Fate. This is name over the Izumo Shrine which is famous for the “EN MUSUBI”, or ‘fortune knot’ believed to be good for tying prosperity to couples, businesses, or anyone who could use a bit of luck.
Mt Fuji view from plane
The bird’s eye view of Mt. Fuji the highest mountain in Japan from an airplane window on a clear day. If you are flying into or leaving Tokyo do check out the view from the window seat depending on your route you might be lucky to get a great view of the “still active volcanic mountain”.
