Garden and Culture of Japan -
Autumn Leaves Special
Japan tour package featuring
Japanese gardens in autumn.
Japanese gardens are considered areas where the
gods could manifest themselves.
Peaceful, unique, and always beautiful, gardens
serve as places to meditate and commune with
nature. These are places where the eye can enjoy
?Eborrowed" landscapes from distant areas and
breathtaking vistas. Each component of the garden,
from stone to moss to tree, has been carefully
chosen for its form, texture, and color to create
an atmosphere of tranquility and contemplation. In
addition to the distinction of being Japan?fs
cultural center, Kyoto boasts many of the most
famous gardens in the country.
On our tour, we take advantage of both public
and private gardens and have included many
different styles of gardens, including stroll
gardens, landscape gardens, and pond-and-island
gardens. Each type has its own distinctive charm
and beauty. End of November is an impressive time
to wander around the gardens, parks and temple
grounds of Kyoto, Nara, Takamatsu, Matsue, Okayama
and Tokyo. Start your tour in Takamatsu at the
Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum. Stroll through the
workshop and private home of this famed artist,
whose career spanned over six decades.
Next is a visit to one of Japan?Es most famous
garden, Ritsurin Koen, and a boat ride along the
scenic Oboke Gorge. Cross the Seto Inland Sea to
Honshu Island and stay two days in Hiroshima .
There, visit the sacred Itsukushima Shrine and its
famed vermillion torii gate, which looks as if
it's floating in the sea. In Matsue, visit a
castle and ride a pleasure boat down its moat.
View the many dry-landscape gardens of Kyoto and
learn calligraphy techniques. This tour also
covers Mt Fuji , Hakone, and Tokyo, and visitors
will get the opportunity to experience a
traditional green tea ceremony .
This tour has a limit of 12 people, a perfect
group size to experience Japanese gardens and
culture in depth.
