| Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival |
 |
 Kawazu-zakura is known as one of the earliest
cherry blossoms and usually begins to bloom in
January or February, depending on the weather.
Because the pink blossoms stay in full bloom
longer than Somei Yoshino, the most common kind of
sakura trees in Japan, visitors have more chances
to catch the best of the blossoms.
The Kawazu Cherry Blossom festival is held in
Kawazu town and Minami Izu town. Here, illuminated
cherry trees, vendors of local products and foods
attract 1.5 - 2 million people visitors every year
during the festival.
