| Snow Monkeys |
 |
 Many of us are familiar with images of monkeys
soaking up the watery warmth of a hot spring in
the midst of a bone chilling, wintery landscape.
These Snow Monkeys, or Japanese macaques of Japan,
living at latitudes of 41° to 31° north of the
equator, the only monkeys to live that far north
in the world.
On our snow monkey tours, we will take you visit
the Jigokudani Yaen-koen
(Hell Valley Wild Monkey Park) located in the
mountains in Nagano. Here
you will see the Japanese Snow Monkey or Japanese
Macaque. About 250 wild
monkeys live here and freely wander around. Snow
monkeys are used to being
around people and living as if they are humans.
There is an outside hot
spring that was made just for the monkeys. On our
snow monkey tours, you
might see snow monkeys soaking themselves in the
hot water while the snow
falls on their heads.
